So where are we now?

July was a key period in the decision making surrounding the proposed sites in South Hampshire. Nine sites were rejected including Pickwell Farm (on traffic and access issues), a decision that we wholeheartedly welcomed.

However, HAMBLE AIRFIELD is UNBELIEVABLY STILL IN despite the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE suggesting otherwise! In response to our arguments HCC tried to soften the blow by claiming they would secure part of the site to be returned to the village as a local amenity. But please don’t be fooled. This will never alter the fact that ANY SITE EARMARKED ON THE PENINSULA IS NOT SUITABLE FOR MINERAL EXTRACTION NOW OR AT ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE considering the severely limited road infrastructure and close proximity to important Hampshire communities, tourism and businesses!

Where to from here?

In the Autumn we will have another chance to object when a Government appointed independent inspector will review the site selection process. During this period there will be a six week consultation period when we must convince them that this just doesn’t work here. We can win this fight with your support.

So what can I do?

1. DON’T GIVE UP HOPE

This is far from a done deal despite what some are saying. TOGETHER we can and will stop this as other action groups have proven elsewhere.

2. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT ON YOUR CAR.

We need to raise funds to continue with vital research and studies. Every penny will go towards fighting this. Also If you have time and energy to give then let us know!

4. ATTEND THE FORTHCOMING PUBLIC MEETING

This will be organised by us to update you and inform you as to how to respond to the public consultation and update you and the media on the current situation (date tbc)

5. WRITE YOUR LETTER TO OPPOSE THE PLAN

We will help you with content and where to send it nearer the time. And ask all those you know who visit and love the Hamble Peninsula to do the same. It is important that this is sent during the Autumn consultation period and not before/after.

A STRONG RESPONSE FROM US AS INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, VILLAGES AND AS A UNITED PENINSULA WILL BE VITAL IF WE ARE TO STOP THIS IN ITS TRACKS.

And finally thanks to all the many individuals, businesses and organisations who have fully supported RAGE so far. There’s still a way to go but....TOGETHER WE WILL SUCCEED!
