The Battle of Britain Memorial flight will take to the skies over Southampton Water to perform an historic flypast to help celebrate the Centenary of Flight in South Hampshire.  They will perform three flypasts that will take place at approximately 4.15pm on the afternoon of Saturday 24th July 2010 over Southampton Water. However visitors should allow 5-10 minutes either side of this time for weather conditions.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight includes a trio of historic aircraft which will fly over the areas of both Eastleigh and Southampton to mark the birth of aviation in the region 100 years ago this year as well as the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.  The trio will include; the Hurricane, the UK’s only flying Lancaster and the Spitfire, which was designed and built locally and took its first test flight from Southampton Airport in 1936.

The best viewing points will be along Southampton water from Weston Shore to Royal Victoria Country Park and Hamble Point.  The flypasts will be subject to weather conditions.
